KaDy/Students keep clean sheet as competition gets tougher

KaDy/Students - Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (Georgia) 1-0 (1-0)

Juho Mäkiniemi (Jukka Kytölä) 1-0

On Tuesday, the second competition day for futsal at the EUSA Games in Córdoba, KaDy/Students were met with a tough Georgian challenge in Group A as Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University chased after a second win and an almost certain playoff place. The skillful and physically fit Georgians were, however, left goalless as the tightly defending Jyväskyläns stood the test and kept a clean sheet. A significant role in today's defensive victory was played by the young goalkeeper Henri "El Enrico" Hytönen (whose 23th birthday it is today!) with a few gamesavers to the record.

The sole goal of the match was scored in the early minutes of the first half by Juho "El Yugoslav" Mäkiniemi, assisted by Jukka "El Kayuk" Kytölä's aggressive pressure and game-winning pass. While the first half rumbled on in relatively even terms, the Georgians turned on a high-speed gear during the second half, forcing the Finns to defensive positions. Admittedly KaDy/Students only had a handful of controlled attacks in the last twenty minutes, a few of which resulted in tough shots from a close distance.

Group A will remain open until around Wednesday noon, and despite two victories so far, KaDy/Students are not allowed to lose their early Wednesday morning match to hosts Córdoba if wishing to proceed to top eight playoffs. However, even a draw will take the Jyväskyläns to top their group.

Stay tuned, fans and followers!
