University of EGE (Turkey) - KaDy Students 2-7 (0-4)

KaDy Students were in imperious form in the crucial knockout match against University of EGE, thus confirming the words of KaDy head coach Tero Kelhälä: "we are getting better every game".

After Kimmo Tolvanen broke the deadlock at 16 minutes, the goals just started to fly in, as KaDy found time and space to score as much as three more before the break. The Turks never recovered from the shock, and KaDy could stroll to a convincing victory with a total of seven goals against the Turks' two (both with a flying goalie).

komik.jpgPractitioners of numerology and other freaks will find it interesting that KaDy won 2-7 on 20.7., the day of captain Mikko Kytölä's 27th birthday! Birthday-boy scored and assisted one goal, but what he appreciated most was the team performance.

- The way we played made me feel really good. It's hard to imagine a better present. This was the first time we got our play flowing here, and I think we scored some great goals, Kytölä gets emotional.

What about tomorrow's opponents, University of Belgrad, Serbia? The Serbs topped their group with a ridiculous 23-0 goal difference and rested today whereas KaDy sweat on the floor.

- Reflecting on today's performance, I believe we can make it. I haven't seen Serbia play, but our scouting network has informed us that they play somewhat similarly to the Ukrainians. We will no doubt face a good team, but if you compare Belgrad with the other group winners, I think this draw is quite a good one. They have scored bags of goals, true, but they had an easy group, captain states and goes searching for a birthday cake.

Tomorrow (on Thursday) at 16:00 KaDy Students will play University of Belgrade in the 2nd knockout round match whose winner will proceed to the quarter finals (places 1.-8.). The rumor has it that KaDy Ultras will travel to Tampere to support their team - we recommend you to do the same!
